About Us

Professional Scuba Service is located within Aquatic Adventures of Michigan in Brighton Michigan.

We have been doing business as Aquatic Adventures since 1999, when we started teaching SCUBA in Ann Arbor as independent instructors. We both had been affiliated with dive stores prior to that, and wanted more freedom to do it "our way." We taught PADI and IANTD classes ranging from PADI Open Water through IANTD Advanced Nitrox, and led trips and charters on the Great Lakes and tropics. When we formed our LLC in 2001, we found that we had to add "of Michigan" in order to differentiate ourselves from all of the other Aquatic Adventures out there. (We knew Aquatic Adventures was a good name, but we didn't know so many other people were using it.)

Forming the LLC was our first step toward opening our own store. After researching the Southeastern Michigan area, we selected Livingston County as the home for our store. We opened in October of 2002, and have been open almost every day since. We have continued our commitment to provide comprehensive scuba training and supervised diving experiences to new and experienced divers, while adding retail sales of top quality scuba, snorkeling, and swimming gear.

We are a PADI 5 Star IDC Facility and offer scuba instruction from basic Open Water Diver through Trimix Diver, and PADI Professional training from Divemaster through Instructor. In addition, we provide instruction in numerous diving specialties, such as Underwater Digital Photographer, Deep Diver, Wreck Diver, and Night Diver, and we organize diving expeditions in the Great Lakes and elsewhere. Because of our focus on diving safety, we have also obtained certification as instructors in first aid and oxygen use for diving emergencies, and offer those classes monthly. We are certified nitrox and mixed gas blenders and provide those services to appropriately certified divers. In addition, we offer SCUBA tank inspection services by our own certified inspectors, and equipment maintenance and repair services by manufacturer trained technicians for almost all brands of scuba gear.

Because we believe strongly in the value of continuing education and experience in developing safe, comfortable divers, we strive to provide on-going service to our clients. For example, we organize Great Lakes charters monthly during the dive season, and offer specialized training prior to and during the trips. These can range from day trips to Port Sanilac to weekend excursions to White Fish Point. When winter comes, we still do frequent training and practice dives in local lakes, ponds and quarries, and we organize warm water dive trips to the Caribbean and tropical Pacific.

The bottom line is: We offer you the tools, skills, and opportunities you need to explore the underwater world. We believe that our small class sizes, personal attention to clients, and commitment to learning will maximize the learning experience of both new and experienced divers.
